LEGO Trains

I've been building custom LEGO trains since 2019 when I joined the LEGO UK Railway (LUKR). While the locomotives below are my own, some of the scenery, rollingstock and background locomotives may belong to other club members and are credited where possible.

LNER Class 801 Azuma

At almost 3m Long and built to 1:43 scale, this powered electric multiple unit is my largest railway project so far.

GER C53 / LNER J70 Steam Tram

The iconic wooden bodied tramway engine proved to be a unique challenge and a lesson in creating the effect of wood panelling .

BR Class 66

The BR Class 66 was my first modern locomotive, my first fully lit locomotive and one that was the flagship of my collection, though now sits dismantled in preparation for a rebuild. Photographed here on the LUKR club Northern Playout at Discovery Brick Show 2022.

WD Austerity "Welsh Guardsman"

The War Department 0-6-0 Saddle Tanks were the backbone of Britain's railway opperations during the second world war. Mine is Circuit Cube driven and based on "Welsh Guardsman" formerly of the Ebasay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Photographed here on the LUKR Southern Layout at Shildon Brick Show 2022.

Brussels Tram number 8 "Lucie"

Built for the Brussels Tramway by John Cockerill in 1890, Steam Tram number 8 was saved from the disrepair that awaited the rest of its class by Paul 'Piglet' Middleton of the NYMR, who restored it to running order (and named her Lucie). Ferrocarril de sóller

The Ferrocarril de Sóller (Sóller Railway) opened in 1912 to transport Oranges and Lemons from the groves in the North East of the Island of Mallorca, through the Tramuntana mountains to the ports of Palma. The 3 foot gauge electric railway still runs to this day.

Bagnall 0-4-0 Tank Engine

These dockyard shunters gained fame as the inspiration for Bill and Ben in The Railway Series, and were the basis of what became my smallest independently powered locomotive. Pictured here at Shildon Brick Show 2021.

Double Fairlie

An Iconic sight on the Ffestiniog railway in North Wales, I based my model on "Livingston Thompson" that resides in the National Railway Musuem, York.

KLR "Hawk"

"Hawke" and "Fox" are 381mm gauge locomotives from the Kirklees Light Railway, and are my smallest locomotives at only 5 studs (40mm) wide. Photographed on location at the KLR, also known as Whistlestop Valley Railway.
